Somya is passionate about design, collaboration and working in community. She works with the New Business Development team on positioning, visual communication and organizational engagement.
With a background in architecture and exhibit design, Somya’s ethos is rooted in design theory. She works collaboratively with the NBD team on positioning initiatives, client acquisition and systems management for internal projects. Her day to day work includes managing and creating content for all of MG’s social media platforms, designing and executing marketing collateral, maintaining MG/ISMG’s websites, and supporting client acquisition efforts via proposals and research.
Her unique expertise includes:
- Collaboration and creative problem-solving
- Graphic design and visual communication
- Community and stakeholder engagement
- Organizational strategy and innovation, with a particular interest in equity in the workplace
Experience
Somya has a Master of Architecture degree, and before joining MG, was a museum professional for over 10 years, serving as director of exhibits at a children’s museum, in addition she is also a designer and illustrator. She continues to live out her life’s mission: to design and build the scaffolding necessary to bring diverse communities together to create transformative experiences.
In Community
Somya regularly volunteers with KBOO community radio. She has also volunteered with Street Roots and Sisters of the Road Café, both Portland-based community organizations committed to alleviating the suffering caused by poverty.
She is also an artist, collaborator and community member. Originally from Canada, she loves traveling, drawing, listening to—and talking about— music, and visiting museums with her partner. She makes comics too!
