Kayla Beard

Kayla assists executives with an optimistic attitude and a focused mindset to ensure that systems and operations run smoothly. She brings a sense of tranquility and stability to our fast-paced work environment.
As an executive assistant, Kayla helps to effect change within and outside MG by providing support to the executives who lead our environmental justice and strategic communications initiatives. Her keen eye for detail aids in maintaining MG’s quality standards, and her commitment to community well-being helps foster an uplifting and welcoming work environment.

Experience
Kayla has gleaned a range of experiences working in communications. After graduating college, Kayla worked as a newspaper reporter for two years covering the Appalachian region in Ohio, one of the most impoverished regions in the state. She focused on stories that shed light on economic disparities, marginalized communities, and the lack of equitable access to food and transportation. Before joining MG, Kayla honed her interpersonal communication skills working in the food service industry; she subsequently transitioned to social media management and content creation.
Kayla has a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and a Master’s Certificate in Network Security.
In Community
Kayla enjoys assisting in environmental beautification projects; she helps clean up trash sites and plant community gardens. She also annually participates in local food drives. In her personal time, Kayla enjoys cuddling with her cat, Iroh, camping with friends and family, and reading books about science and spirituality. At any given moment—even on her busiest days—you might catch her writing a poem.
