senior executive vice president
We borrow the world from our children. — Kashmiri proverb
Ezra brings over 25 years of experience to his leadership of Metropolitan Group's Environment and Sustainability Practice nationally and globally. Ezra oversees agency-wide environmental strategy and impact, manages key foundation, national non-profit and federal agency accounts, and advances thought leadership for the environment and sustainability field. He is a skilled strategist and brand builder, organizational culture change maven, creative communication professional, leadership team builder and executive coach, multi-cultural facilitator, marketer and fundraiser. Ezra has subject matter expertise in land, water and wildlife conservation, natural resource management, Earth science, toxics and climate change. Educated in philanthropy at Indiana University and science at Tufts University, Ezra is driven by core values of responsibility, excellence, and caring for people and planet.
Prior to joining MG, Ezra served as the president and CEO of River Network, a national river protection organization that he repositioned through strategic planning to better connect with priority environmental issues of our time: public health, connecting youth with nature, green economic development, and multicultural inclusion. Ezra also served as national director of the Land Trust Alliance, where he spent more than eight years working to increase the pace, quality, and permanence of land conservation coast to coast. He played a key role in building the Alliance’s capacity to respond to a major Congressional investigation into conservation business practices, and helped turn the inquiry into a major victory for conservation when Congress enacted significant tax reform to stimulate additional conservation donations. While at the Alliance, he hired Metropolitan Group to collaborate on the Alliance’s rebranding initiative that repositioned the organization as a leader in land conservation, and helped it reach new and diverse audiences and donors.
Prior to joining the Alliance, Ezra served in various leadership positions with The Nature Conservancy, including director of protection for New Jersey. He has worked extensively in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors as a community activist and an environmental consultant. Ezra is a graduate of Tufts University with degrees in biology and environmental science, and has completed advanced studies in philanthropy at Indiana University.
