Design Week Portland: Designing Social Change

DWP main

Portland, Oregon is a hub of creators, makers and designers. And this month, Design Week Portland convenes the city’s great creative minds to collaborate, innovate and inspire during a week-long celebration of design and all of its disciplines. MG is involved in several ways — staff are core organizers, participants in WeMake’s Put A Bird In It design auction, and will be volunteers for various events.

On Monday, MG hosted an event titled Designing Social Change. We invited DWP participants to join us for a conversation about social change, and about how design can embrace racial, ethnic and sexual identity differences with an authentic understanding—giving voice to those who often go unheard. We were thrilled to have a great turnout and an engaged group.

MG places a high value on the role design plays in creating social change. Design matters in photography, typography and color palettes. From inspiration to execution, effective design brings strategy to life. Done right, it moves people, it makes them think. We’re proud to be able to make these connections, design these experiences, and help our clients better engage through design to create positive social change.
