Recess is BACK

We have an employee-led Wellness Committee that meets monthly to plan programs that provide health and wellness information, encourage employees to eat better, move more, pursue regular health care and explore wellness policies. We were approached to participate in KEEN’s recess pilot program, launched last spring.

KEEN believes that committing to just 10 minutes a day of outdoor recreation can reenergize individuals with real physical and mental health benefits. KEEN has teamed up with Dr. Toni Yancey, author of Instant Recess: Building a Fit Nation 10 Minutes at a Time and professor of health services and co-director of the KP Center for Health Equity at UCLA, to create the Instant Recess Toolkit, which is the basis for the recess pilot program. Her recent studies in the workplace prove that taking short activity breaks during the workday, the time KEEN refers to as recess, is great for an individual’s health and well-being.

Our team regularly participates in recess activities, like taking a quick walk around the block, doing several sways of a hula hoop, getting into multiple stretching positions and much more.
