The West Hollywood Library Fund has contracted with Metropolitan Group to provide strategic counsel on the Fund's campaign to raise $10 million toward LibraryPark, the cornerstone of the City's 25th Anniversary Capital Project.

At the library's recent groundbreaking, the West Hollywood Library Fund proudly presented a check to the City for $3.6 million to support the construction of the new library. With construction now well under way, LibraryPark is expected to open its doors in the fall of 2011. The campaign is busy working to meet a $1 million challenge grant put forth by West Hollywood native Stuart Feigin, and has raised over $500,000 toward the match.

About the Campaign:

West Hollywood, a creative and culturally diverse community, has outgrown its small library built in 1959. Metropolitan Group was hired in 2007 to work with the City of West Hollywood to develop a plan for public-private financing, conduct a feasibility study, and create private philanthropy campaign to replace the outdated library and expand and improve the adjacent West Hollywood Park.

Working closely with the City of West Hollywood and architecture firm MDA Johnson Favaro, Metropolitan Group crafted strategy for a $10 million private philanthropy campaign to support Phase I of the West Hollywood Park Master Plan. This $64 million public-private project will build a library that meets community needs including meeting space and other amenities, create critically needed parkland, and include additional off-street parking. MG continues to serve as staff and strategic counsel for the campaign. Along with producing case statements, brochures and advocacy tools, Metropolitan Group has helped the City of West Hollywood establish a new community foundation to lead the library campaign and serve as a catalyst for other initiatives in the "like no other" community of West Hollywood.
