Metropolitan Group was retained by the the Indianapolis-Marion County Library Foundation to develop a fundraising plan for the community phase of a campaign to raise $4.5 million for a systemwide endowment to support programming. The Library is currently constructing a new Central Library, for which the Foundation raised more than $40 million in private funds, primarily in large gifts from a small number of donors. One of the goals of the endowment campaign is to attract and retain a significantly larger base of support for the Foundation. In addition to developing the campaign plan, MG developed the collateral material for the campaign, and serves as campaign counsel.
Though it will not directly fund the capital needs of the Central Library, this campaign is loosely tied to the library construction process because the new library will serve to attract new and returning donors. Because the exact opening date of Central is uncertain, this community campaign plan assumes—and plans for—a degree of flexibility in implementation.
